Monstrous capacity – WD VelociRaptor SATA drives are available in capacities up to 600 GB, double the capacity of the previous generation. Rock-solid reliability – Designed and manufactured to mission-critical enterprise-class standards to provide enterprise reliability in high duty cycle environments. With 1.4 million hours MTBF, these drives have the highest available reliability rating on a high capacity SATA drive. Rotary Acceleration Feed Forward (RAFF) – Optimizes operation and performance when the drives are used in vibration-prone, multi-drive chassis. NoTouch ramp load technology – The recording head never touches the disk media ensuring significantly less wear to the recording head and media as well as better drive protection in transit. Pros: It defrags very quickly and makes for a compact chassis look. You can even fool someone that it’s an SSD (when the computer is off of course).

Cons: It is very loud, compared to your average 7200 drives. You might want some special dampeners for this one. My computer is against a wall and when it’s writing, it can be heard on the other side.

Overall Review: It says 6 gb/s, but it actually uses SATA2 even if you put it in a SATA3 input. Other than the other mishaps, you might want to stick with a $120 SSD and a complementary 7200 drives instead of this using the the Intel SRT if you have the parts that do that.

Solid Product7/23/2011 1:12:42 PM

Pros: – Noticeably faster than your standard 7200 RPM Hard Drive, especially given the SATA 6.0Gb/s technology.

– 600 Gb is a big step up from the previously available models.

– Cool and stable for almost a year now.

– The best alternative to SSD available. End of story.

Cons: – Initially, I thought that the price was a bit steep, but after using this drive for nearly a year now, I can call it money well spent.

Overall Review: – If you can scoop this drive up for less than 299.99, do it. (As of 7/23/11)

Not for laptops sorry3/19/2011 2:25:13 AM

Pros: These are great hardrives, however I dont own this particualr model BUT – Some one needs to make NEWEGG aware that they have these listed under laptop drives – they are not made for any laptops at all – the fact they are 2.5″ form factor is what has them thrown off

Cons: they wont run on laptop volatges – they wont fit into a laptop.
Woul be awesome if they did

Overall Review: please look into this newegg – so you can list them properly.
Dont really expect you to post the comments but Please adjust these to be not listed for laptops
