MSI GE Series – 15.6″ 240 Hz – Intel Core i7 12th Gen 12700H (2.30GHz) – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop GPU – 32 GB DDR5 – 1TB NVMe SSD – Windows 11 Home 64-bit – Gaming Laptop (Raider GE66 12UGS-238 )

Pros: Extremely powerful, smooth-running laptop. I use the laptop for work and some intense graphic design applications. Startup is very fast, and my work applications run very smoothly. I typically try to keep simultaneous applications at a minimum, but this laptop was able to handle it all without a sweat.

Cons: Major problem with the integrated webcam. Anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes after turning on the integrated webcam, the video feed would freeze due to the camera seemingly turning off. I would have to manually turn the camera back off or on in whatever application was using it. I use the webcam several hours every day, so this is extremely annoying/disruptive to my use of the otherwise great laptop. This problem occurred regardless of what application was using the camera (Skype, Google Meet, Discord, Zoom, etc.)

None of the following strategies worked:
– Changing the power saving settings across USB devices or globally
– Adding EnableFrameServerMode to the Registry
– Updating the camera drivers
– Reinstalling the integrated webcam device through device manager
– Disabling or uninstalling antivirus software
– Reinstalling the Windows OS (hard drive wipe)
– Sending in laptop (paid over $150 for shipping + insurance) to MSI for repairs [they DO NOT pay for shipment]; they replaced the webcam and gave the webcam test an ‘OK’ .

This has been an incredibly frustrating problem to attempt to solve, and at this point I have no other option but to request a complete replacement.

Overall Review: Unless/Until I can get another instance of this product without this integrated webcam problem, I cannot recommend it to others unless they do not care at all about their webcam working well.

Overall Review: My desktop is 5 years old and I was wanting to purchase an upgrade. I decide to go with a laptop for gaming. This MSI GE66 does not disappoint. Great power and easy to use.

Given the heat that is generated from a gaming laptop, the keyboard stays surprisingly cool to the touch. The exhaust vents from the fans are warm, so keep them clear of objects for better cooling and the fans ramp up during gaming (all excepted from a gaming laptop). It was a few days before I purchased a cooling pan for underneath the laptop and it made a HUGE difference on temperature readings. I HIGHLY recommend purchasing a cooling pad.

Everything Ive experienced from the laptop so far has been amazing: quick delivery, beautiful screen, great performance. Ive been hooked on Tiny Tinas Wonderlands and this beast laptop runs it perfectly.

Thank you MSI for creating such an amazing new model. From your new fan, Steven

Overall Review: Ive been putting off from getting a new laptop for a year until I saw this product and knew right away it was for me. The performance and design are phenomenal to me and works like a charm. Satisfied!

Pros: – Best performance you can get for the size.
– Excellent look and feel.
– Keyboard feels right for my big hands.
– Relatively portable.
– Screen is looks great.
– Great costumer/technical service
– Comes with accidental damage coverage for 12 months plus 3 months of extra standard warranty if registered within 30 days.

Cons: – Even though the screen is 4K, you cannot stream beyond 1080p unless it’s YouTube or Vimeo (not sure if it’s because of Win 11 or lack of drivers).
– There is no mention of the response time.
– Screen lacks HDR.
– 1TB initial storage is very lame compared to other laptops at the same price range (2TB would have been passable).
– IR camera would have been nice to speed login process.
– Expensive.

Overall Review: – So as you can see there are good and bad things with the laptop.
– This is more for creative work. Gaming would require DLSS or other tweaks if you want the maximum image quality in 4k.
– It is hard to recommend this laptop being that expensive, I imagine there would be more add-ons (storage) as time progresses. Unfortunately, the competition such as Asus (ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 2022) or Razer (Blade 15 Advanced) are either not out yet or not in stock so if you need something powerful with some limitations right away and have extra cash to burn, this could work for you.

Pros: – Tons of speed
– Great picture, the screen resolution and clarity is amazing

Cons: – The battery life is a bit short and the charger is almost as heavy as the laptop

Overall Review: The battery life is a bit short, but makes up for it with an incredible amount of speed.

Pros: It turns on and works (mostly)
Reasonably fast (this is thanks to Intel and Nvidia)
Webcam is ok
Battery lifespan protection is good (stops charging at 60% to prevent battery damage long term)
No crashes yet

Cons: Fans will drive you insane, turning on and off constantly with random noises.
Custom settings are broken
Keyboard randomly repeats keys
Audio randomly does not work without a reboot
Speakers truly suck
USB-C charging does not work. This is idiotic since you don’t always use 280 watts of power.
Insanely huge old fashioned power brick weighs more than a MacBook or Ultrabook

Overall Review: There are so many other better choices out there. Avoid at all costs. Unfortunately, I had similar issues with a GS76 Stealth. It’s good hardware with really poor software / firmware. Their motherboards are fine, I guess, but I never install their crapware.

Pros: It is a very nice laptop with plenty of cool things about it, will work perfect for music production/gaming on the go

Cons: It is a little pricey but most high end laptops usually are

Overall Review: I can definitely recommend this laptop, only thing I would like is a couple more usb ports but it’s not that important
