Enterprise class, 7200RPM, 2TB SATA 6.0G b/s, 64MB Cache hard drive for high-capacity nearline environments! Enterprise Grade Hard Drive! The HGST Ultrastar™ 7K3000 is the world’s first and only 7200 RPM hard drive rated at 2.0 million hours MTBF. The Ultrastar 7K3000 represents the fifth-generation HGST 5-platter mechanical design, and has been field proven by top server and storage OEMs as well as leading Internet giants. When the highest quality and reliability are a top requirement, customer field data proves that the Ultrastar 7K3000 delivers by reducing downtime, eliminating service calls and keeping TCO to a minimum.
Engineered for the highest reliability, the Ultrastar 7K3000 is not only put through grueling design tests during development but must also pass stringent ongoing reliability testing during manufacturing. Across the entire Ultrastar family, world-class quality control, combined with scientific root-cause analysis and multi-faceted corrective actions, ensure that HGST remains the recognized leader in quality and reliability for enterprise-class hard drives. Doubling the capacity density As data center professionals across the globe work to meet growing enterprise needs, they face the dilemma of storing more data in the same footprint while also reducing power and HVAC consumption.
The new Ultrastarâ„¢ 7K3000 provides twice the data storage capacity of the prior generation Ultrastar A7K2000 drive, and does so using fewer watts. Combining 7200 RPM performance and granular power control Operating at 7200 RPM, the Hitachi Ultrastar 7K3000 offers better overall performance than slower-RPM, capacity-oriented drives at impressively low power-consumption rates. When compared to the previous generation Ultrastar 7K2000, the 7K2000 offers up to a 155% improvement in sustained data transfer rate, and a 120% improvement in watts-per-GB. With five Advanced Power Management modes, a 36% reduction in watts during low-RPM idle mode, and using less than 1W during standby/sleep mode, the Ultrastar 7K2000 can help data centers achieve lower AC power and HVAC requirements, freeing up precious headroom Enhancing data safety and security To ensure the utmost in data safety and security, the Ultrastar 7K2000 is also available with a bulk data encryption (BDE) option.
When enabled, the Hitachi BDE implementation encrypts all data on the drive using a private security key as it is written to the disk, and then decrypts it with the key as it is retrieved, giving users an extreme level of data protection. Unlike softwarebased encryption solutions, the Hitachi BDE implementation is hardware-based, so it doesn’t slow the system down. This technology also speeds up and simplifies the drive re-deployment and decommissioning process. By deleting the encryption key, the data is rendered unreadable, thereby eliminating the need for time-consuming, multi-pattern data overwrite Delivering industry-leading reliability With a robust fourth-generation mechanical design, Ultrastar 7K2000 is specifically built and tested for the enterprise.
The Ultrastar SATA drive family features Hitachi-patented Rotational Vibration Safeguard (RVS) sensor technology, which opt

Pros: Arrived on time
Cons: SATA Connector on the back was sheared clean off. Unusual scratches on the casing implying it had been mounted before. The static bag was poorly sealed implying it had been repackaged. I was concerned about making this purchase because this retailer has a list of complaints for selling used items as new. So I contacted NewEgg about this and they reassured me the drive was new just simply OEM. I’ve been in contact with NewEgg today and they have helped me all they can considering it comes from a third party seller.
Overall Review: Thru the years I have done a lot of business with NewEgg. Thousands of dollars worth actually and I’m let down to say the least. I understand that its just a cheap hard drive but these companies who are using a great name like NewEggs to pedal their junk is ruining NewEggs reputation. I will update the results of the RMA process as well. I’ve learned my lesson, if its not a NewEgg product, I’m not buying.
Dependable 2TB Hitatchi Ultrastart 7K3000 Drives5/22/2016 6:08:05 PM
Pros: Reliable
Consistent
Fairly quiet (your hearing might be better than mine)
Works great in cctv ip camera RAID 1 and RAID 10 workstation
Cons: Not one single con – installed and they work perfectly in RAID 10 and RAID 1 installation
Overall Review: Not a con but these are OEM drives and not boxed retail drives – so do not expect to receive any hardware
If you need real spinning platter drives that will last more than a year then you cannot go wrong with real Hitatchi 2TB drives
You won’t break any disk speed records but these are intended more for reliable a/v use
If you need mounting hardware, disk copying software, general help then buy retail boxed drives – a little purchase research before you buy is priceless.
Im sure it would have been a great HDD, but mine was DOA.10/29/2016 8:38:19 PM
Pros: Purchased for mass storage for a gaming build. Got it with fast shipping. However the drive I received was DOA. I notified Newegg and the Manufacturer and they gave me return postage right away and were very prompt and polite about my refund. Like I said I’m sure this is an excellent drive, just in my case I got a dead one, which can happen to all HDDs from any manufacturer unfortunately. Still giving 4 stars for fast response and refund.
Cons: DOA, but excellent customer service and fast refund.

Should have gotten great performance. Instead got read errors12/9/2019 6:40:02 AM
Overall Review: I purchased this drive to use in an external usb drive enclosure with which I’ve had great reliability. Since I usually consider hitachi drives to be very reliable, when it failed I thought that it was the drive enclosure. After putting it in my workstation using the standard 6.0 sata cable, it installed, but indicated that the drive was raw so I lost all the data that was on it when it was in the external drive enclosure. It formatted just fine. I copied over 1.5 T of data no problem. However every time I boot, windows does a drive fix on it and I have a constant “repair drive due to read errors” message on the taskbar. Tools such as crystal info says that the drive is failing. I have had no issues with pulling data off this drive yet, but I can’t have a drive I cannot rely on. Replacing the drive now. No longer under warranty due to my delay in installing it on an actual workstation.
Great price on a reliable product.6/17/2019 8:37:21 AM
Pros: Fast shipping.
Cons: None
Hitachi Drive6/20/2016 4:14:41 PM
Pros: At least the second one they sent worked. Return process was quick and easy.
Cons: The first drive I got was dead on arrival.
So far, so good5/1/2016 2:49:59 PM
Pros: No errors detected. Cloned my old Windows 10 disk to this one without a hitch. Partitioned it afterwards. Seems faster to boot than my old HDD even though both have the same speed stats.
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: I have only had this for two days so I will wait a while for the final verdict. So far though it’s been fantastic.
works great and is decently fast5/1/2016 12:27:39 PM
Pros: lots of space and good speed for a hdd
Cons: none that i can see
Overall Review: good buy for the money
