Easy to use nice ram.3/23/2014 5:52:04 AM

Pros: Nice G.skill ram as always, easy to setup just go into bios set xmp profile 1 or 2, reboot saving changes and its running at speed.

Cons: none worked great.

Overall Review: This ram runs at 1600 until you set your xmp profile in bios, or you can set it manually, if you want to run this in 1600 you can just set the timings to 9-9-9-24 yourself instead of using the loose timings it defaults too for 1600.

Fantastic!2/6/2013 6:57:22 AM

Pros: I swapped this set out with the former GSkill 1600 RAM for my AMD Trinity APU A10 5800K and the WEI graphics rating went from 6.4 to 6.9!

People are not kidding when they say the graphics cores are extremely fast but the lack of GDDR5 like on a dedicated graphics card. That really makes the system RAM speeds important. All FM2 socket boards accept 1866 natively without overclocking and all Trinity APUs have a memory controller that operates at 1866 as well so this is definitely the RAM to get!

It also upped the RAM WEI rating from 7.3 to 7.4. I was disappointed since I’ve seen 1600 MHz low timing RAM get a 7.8 on an i5 Ivy Bridge system.

Cons: I don’t see any reason to get this RAM for anything other than a modern AMD system. Putting this in an i5 for example will still operate it at 1600, although if you’re overclocking the base frequency, this would probably stand up to speeds slightly higher than 1600 in theory but I haven’t tested that.

Overall Review: I haven’t tested overclocking this set past 1866 but generally, this series of RAM doesn’t go far past its stated rating because if it did test higher, it would have been released as a higher speed RAM kit.

bought in 2012 – still works in 201410/17/2014 8:51:30 AM

Pros: Just wanted to share that I bought one of these in 2012, and it still works with no problems today! (Oct 2014)

Cons: None

Cheap, reliable, and fast4/3/2013 9:51:17 AM

Pros: We have purchased several of these kits over the past year or two. All work flawlessly, unless serious overclocking is a concern.

Cons: Offer less overclocking margin than the fancier (and more expensive) versions.

Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Fast and reliable12/29/2011 3:51:04 PM

Pros: FAST and reliable even when system is oc’d.
aluminum heat sinks built in

Cons: none

Overall Review: Like the colored aluminum heat sinks. Pictures do not do them justice. Don’t usually open my system up and show it off, but it does look nice.
MOBO had to manually adjust the timings on my mother board.

fantastic sticks12/14/2011 7:56:46 AM

Pros: I currently am running them on THIS computer at 2200 at 11-11-11-28 1T, and I could probably do better, I’ve just been too lazy to tighten up the timings or even try to take it further, it probably COULD overclock further. Stock voltage as well, btw.

if you have an A8-3850, THIS is the ram you want.

Cons: none, fantastic ram.

Overall Review: upgraded from 8GB ripjaws 1333 to 8GB ripjaws 1866 and WHAT a difference. The 1333’s are garbage compared to these, I could only OC them to 1600 at 10-10-10 2T before they stopped working. They couldn’t go any higher, at any timing or voltage.

Ownership: less than 1 day
Horrible RAM12/29/2012 10:16:07 PM

Pros: Newegg Customer service

Cons: I got this RAM as a Christmas gift. I plugged it up, turned on the PC, went into bios and first thing was set up the RAM.
XMP
Profile 1 with auto frequency and listed timings=Fail
Profile 2 with auto frequency and listed timings=Fail
Profile 1 with set frequency or timings=Fail
Profile 2 with set frequency or timings=Fail
Auto Profile with set timings and frequency to standard=Fail
Auto Profile with everything auto=Boot.

The only way I could get it to boot was with the Auto settings, but this still wasn’t good. The auto is the only way it would run, and auto set the frequency to 1686 I think, with basic timings and higher voltage. Ram was meant to upgrade my system and instead lowered it. $20 ram I had before worked better. RMA’d for a refund. First time I have bought G.Skill RAM, probably the last.

Overall Review: Newegg Customer Service fixed everything. Was so glad my mother bought it here, otherwise I would be much worse off.

Manufacturer Response:
.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you were unable to get the memory working properly in your system. Not all CPUs natively support DDR3-1866, so additional tweaks may be necessary to stabilize the system. Please contact the G.Skill technical support team with hardware specifications and they will be glad to assist you. With the proper settings, the computer should be very fast at DDR3-1866 9-10-9-28 1.50V. The RAM is guaranteed at these values, so if you have a compatible motherboard and CPU, it should work without a glitch. For any further questions or concerns, feel free to let us know.

Thank you

When it comes to memory, when you say G.Skill, you’ve said it all7/31/2016 10:49:00 AM

Pros: What’s to be said, quality construction & great performance at the right price.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: ! A note for AMD FX processor owners. !
If you want to run at 1866 it’s best to use only 2 sticks.
I had 8 gig (2 x 4 gig) sticks of this RAM already installed in my PC, running at 1866 mhz, and I wanted to upgrade to 16 gig, so I ordered another 2 x 4 gig kit.
The memory works fine, but will only run at 1600 mhz.
Little did I know that in most cases AMD FX processors will only allow for 1600 mhz with 4 sticks installed.
According to AMD white paper, to run at 1866 mhz or faster you need a memory configuration that only uses 2 sticks of RAM.
Not a big deal and no fault on G.Skill or NewEgg
