Pros: Turning on XMP instantly enables the “stock” specs listed for the memory with no additional tweaking required on a Z690 motherboard.

Cons: – Does not reach advertised speeds

Overall Review: The memory is completely stable at “normal” (no overclocking) speeds. Enabling XMP instantly sets all the settings exactly as listed on this product’s spec sheet which is convenient. The memory is entirely unstable at those settings.

I found that this memory was stable when I reduced the frequency to 4000 down from 4266 (but left all other XMP settings the same)

Good to hear the memory kit is working well in your Intel Z690 system. This memory model does not have an Intel Z690 motherboard listed, so XMP Profile should not be expected to work. Only motherboards listed on the G.Skill QVL and RAM Configurator have been tested capable of the rated specifications of the memory kit. Based on your feedback, it sounds like the BIOS is limited to DDR4-4000. Check to see if you have the latest BIOS for the motherboard. If DDR4-4000 is indeed the limit, you can manually reduce timings to compensate for the lower DRAM Frequency and optimize performance. Overall Review: I tried all manner of settings to get this to boot, and it won’t even sniff at the advertised XMP speeds. Incredibly unstable when you get up past 3600; voltages, timing, or anything. Doesn’t matter.

Memtest comes back clean at lower speeds, so it’s not a DOA. This RAM simply can’t hit what G.Skill advertises and loads into XMP.

If you’re looking to run fast, look elsewhere. Otherwise, it’s serviceable if you’re planning on running just over base.

Not all motherboards and CPUs are natively capable of DDR4-4266, so first check to see if your combination is listed in the G.Skill QVL or RAM Configurator. (link below) If the combination is listed, the memory is surely compatible.

Check to see if you have the latest BIOS for the motherboard. For two modules in a four slot motherboard, slots two and four away from the CPU should be populated. You can also test one module at a time in the second slot to see if both have the same maximum results. This can also provide insight to where the limitation may be as it is likely not with the memory itself.
