Next-level performance and responsive multitasking
Crucial DDR5 Desktop Memory can empower your computer to transfer data 50% faster than DDR4 at launch, resulting in shorter load times, file transfers, downloads, lag time and improved refresh rates6. Because DDR5 provides up to 87% more bandwidth than DDR4 at launch, performance is enhanced not just during testing, but in real-world conditions2.

XMP 3.0 support for easy performance recovery up to JEDEC speed

Crucial DDR5 Desktop Memory is the standard JEDEC DDR5 RAM that is Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) 3.0 technology certified for easy performance recovery. Even with CPUs that have suppressed memory speed, Crucial DDR5 can reach its full speed of 4800MT/s with XMP enabled. With XMP, break through those limitations to realize the full speed of JEDEC DDR5 RAM12.

Improved productivity with innovative channel architecture

Significant improvements to DDR5 channel architecture can help you get more done in less time. With nearly 2x the bandwidth of DDR4, enabled by faster speeds, longer burst lengths, twice the banks and bank groups, two 32-bit channels, and improved refresh schemes, Crucial DDR5 still outperforms DDR4 with higher latency numbers13.
Optimized power efficiency

For improved efficiency and stability, Crucial DDR5 introduces on-module voltage regulation with a power management integrated circuit (PMIC), which was on the motherboard with older memory technologies14. This results in improved signaling and cleaner power regulation for the modules (DIMMs). Moreover, DDR5’s on-module operating voltage is only 1.1V compared to DDR4’s 1.2V.

Micron® quality – tested reliability you can trust
As the vertically integrated consumer brand of Micron, Crucial is trusted by millions for reliability, performance, and compatibility. Unlike module assemblers, we have a unique relationship with Micron that involves a deeper level of engineering collaboration to squeeze every ounce of performance from our products without compromising reliability. Our superior memory products are backed by a limited lifetime warranty11, training, documentation, and video assistance, customer support from an experienced sales network, and trusted pricing and inventory consistency. When it comes to memory, don’t settle for less.

  1. DDR5 architecture includes efficiency improvements that deliver 36% more system bandwidth than DDR4, even at the same theoretical speeds of 3200MT/s, per an internal simulation of dual ranked x8 modules in client platforms. Combined with lower voltage per module, this design provides superior (better) performance.
  2. Under memory-intensive workloads, DDR5 can deliver up to 1.87x the bandwidth, per an internal simulation of dual ranked x8 modules in client platforms, due to double burst length (16), double the banks (32) and bank groups (8), and higher speed than DDR4, as established by JEDEC, an independent standardization body for the microelectronics industry.
  3. Computer must have a DDR5-enabled CPU and motherboard. Crucial DDR5 Desktop Memory is not compatible with DDR4 motherboards.
  4. DDR5 launch speeds of 4800MT/s are comparable to extreme-performance DDR4 memory speeds and are 1.5x (50%) faster than maximum standard DDR4 speeds of 3200MT/s. DDR5 launch speeds of 4800MT/s delivers 1.87x the bandwidth of the maximum standard DDR4 speeds of 3200MT/s.
  5. DDR5 memory can deliver up to 87% more effective bandwidth than DDR4 memory, based on an internal simulation of dual ranked x8 modules in client platforms. Since 12th Gen Intel® CoreTM processors are compatible with either DDR4 or DDR5 memory, adopting DDR5 will yield superior system performance.
  6. Crucial DDR5 desktop memory modules (UDIMM) have been tested by Intel’s XMP test plans and added to the Intel XMP certification list, which can be found on Intel.com. Altering clock frequency or voltage may result in damage to computer components, and Micron disclaims any and all liability for such damage. Warranty voided if Crucial DRAM modules are set to overclock beyond JEDEC specifications.
  7. DDR5 launch data rate of 4800MT/s transfers 1.5x (50%) more data than the maximum standard DDR4 data rate of 3200MT/s. JEDEC projected speeds of 8400MT/s are 2.6x faster than DDR4’s maximum standard data rate of 3200MT/s.
  8. Crucial DDR5 Desktop Memory is non-ECC memory. The ECC as it pertains to RDIMMs, LRDIMMs, ECC UDIMMs and ECC SODIMMs is a function that requires additional DRAM at the module level so that platforms, such as servers and workstations, can correct for errors on individual modules (DIMMs). On-die ECC (ODECC), however, is a feature of the DDR5 component specification and should not be confused with the module-level ECC feature. Crucial DDR5 Desktop Memory is built with DDR5 components that include ODECC, however these modules do not include the additional components necessary for system level ECC.
  9. Densities at launch and those planned are defined by JEDEC for the life of the DDR5 generation of memory.
  10. Compared to published DDR4-3200 speeds.
  11. Limited lifetime warranty valid everywhere except Germany and France, where warranty is valid for ten years from the date of purchase.
  12. Crucial DDR5 Desktop Memory is the standard JEDEC memory. Memory speed is not controlled exclusively by the module itself but also by the memory controller in the CPU and the BIOS/firmware on the motherboard. So, the XMP support is provided for customers to easily recover memory performance up to JEDEC speeds if and when users experience a system-level downclocking of their memory to slower speeds. However, please keep in mind that this performance recovery is not guaranteed on all DDR5 systems as it is highly dependent on the CPU tier, motherboard tier and BIOS stability.
  13. DDR5 launch speeds of 4800MT/s delivers 1.87x the bandwidth of the maximum standard DDR4 speeds of 3200MT/s. Despite, true latency for DDR5-4800 being longer than DDR4-3200, because of the improved channel efficiency, DDR5 still outperforms DDR4 in effective bandwidth.
  14. DDR5 modules (DIMMs) introduce voltage regulation on the module through a power management integrated circuit (PMIC), which enables better power regulation and reduces the scope of DRAM power delivery network (PDN) management on the motherboard for increased efficiency.

Another Great budget focused RAM product from Crucial11/10/2022 10:05:03 PM

Pros: Ultra-thin design Thin profile with no heat dispersion metal on top, like all my other DDR4 RAM. This allows better heat flow and easier fit on the tight area on the board. Air flow is always important on a build.
Budget They are a lot of DDR5 RAM options out there, but the $150 price point for 32GB is very hard to hit.
Performance: For a budget, non-overclocked RAM set, the performance was still far batter than DDR4 RAM on my second computer. There was no program lag on Power Point and MOI design software, which is a very high user of the RAM. My DDR4 RAM struggles with MOI due to the nature of the program and demands of the object files. Testing showed 1.3x increase over my DDR4 over-clocked RAM. Not amazing, but for the money it is passable and no more lag running MOI4.
Heat: The RAM was almost cool to the touch after running for 3 hours straight working on a new design. Have a fan blowing on the area of the RAM at all times.

Cons: Budget Focus There are better performing RAM sets out there in DDR5 that can be over-clocked and your budget only needs to expand by about $40. If you are building a new system, DDR5 is a must and being able to ramp up the performance is desirable.
No other weaknesses, as the RAM performed very well on all programs that I threw at it, including CAD programs.

Overall Review: Great RAM for the money if you are trying to build a budget system and need DDR5 RAM. Have always bought Crucial RAM and have never had a failure or issue. Install, forget and enjoy a great product.

While Passmark performance benchmarks would be nice to see higher, it is real world program performance that matters. This product just works.

Good RAM for the price range11/2/2022 11:39:16 AM
img

Pros: If you’re building a modern system and want what is considered budget DDR5 memory this fits the bill. I built a new system and you need DDR5. This isn’t bad RAM by any means just because it fits a budget. Sometimes function over fashion wins as well.

It’s slim without any heat shields. So it fits incredibly easily into motherboards. For DDR5 this is right on point for the price CAS latency and timings. It truly is faster than my high end DDR4 it replaced.

If you install it meaning to get a new build going right out of the box without tweaks and that’s your goal this does exactly that.

Cons: Cons are tough as some of the cons are just that they aren’t adding additional money costing features. Is not having an added feature a con? I’m not entirely sure. I’ll leave this to what I think for the price is truly a con.

– Not able to overclock
– Adjusting of timings created havoc and I ended up giving up, going back to defaults and leaving it be. It was quite unstable when I started adjusting timings to tune what others are doing.

Overall Review: I installed this into a new AMD Ryzen 7 7700X with an ASRock X670E AM5 motherboard.
I got the 2x16G for 32G.

tldr; It’s good RAM to ‘set and forget’ to have a relative budget new build.

You may notice that CAS Latency is higher for DDR5 than DDR4. Most range from 32 to 40 and this is 40.

This is more of a budget DDR5 set. Prices for DDR5 have been quite high for some time so coming in where it is for end of 2022 is in line with the speed.

If your intent is overclocking and getting high benchmark test numbers this probably isn’t the RAM you’re after. If you want to build a system that is modern and fast to carry you for the next 3+ years where you ‘set it and forget it’ this is just what we have.

I did run Passmark on it and while it claims 1.5 increase in speed my DDR 4 memory was heavily tuned and I get only a 1.2x increase from my DDR4. Still faster and the price is pretty good on this so it checks the boxes I’m after.

I stuck some higher tier memory in that’s faster and has different timings and I did have to scale back my faster RAM to match this. That was known going in though as having different voltage, speed, timings can upset stability. It’d probably have been better for me to just get a 2nd stack of this to save the trouble.

It’s tough to notice the speed of RAM without a benchmark tool as should you be going to DDR5 you probably got a new CPU/Mobo along with it so when using a browser soaking up RAM is my tab switching that much quicker because of the CPU or the RAM since it’s really a combo.

There are competitors coming in a shade higher for a shade faster and with heat shields but this is a nice set to keep more in my pocket for hardly noticeable differences.

not flashy but excellent ram11/11/2022 6:44:16 PM

Pros: it does what it suppossed to do its not flashy but perfect for an itx build or for a professional rig where you dont need all the rgb or massive heat spreaders it ran at rated frequecies and even overclocked a little but its crucial and they are some of the best in the business and i like that its black pcb so if your going for the look where you cant see it . its perfect i would totally recommend if you this is the kind of ram your looking for

Cons: only cons i can think of is for my rig its plain and old school i have alot of rgb but like i said thats me and also for ddr5 the frequency is not as high as i would like but i like extreme overclocking and so on

Overall Review: perfect for a windowless rig or an itx or for cooler clearance the ram itself runs perfect

Budget RAM10/27/2022 4:38:52 PM

Pros: Plug and play for JEDEC @ rated 4800Mhz CL40 speeds simple as that. (Mine booted with 40-40-40-77 timings)
Standard height RAM. This will allow it to fit in all builds regardless of the CPU cooler installed / the size of the case.
Black stealthy PCB which looks nice, No RGB.
Cheaper then fancier high end RAM which not everybody needs, and still a name brand company that you can trust

Cons: Nothing to write home about.
Only 4800Mhz with loose timings, it did not play well with overclocking for me (7950x) so your only options may be to tighten the timings if you are a tinkerer. Don’t buy it expecting it to overclock.
Price compared to DDR4, even high end DDR4

Overall Review: Memory is single sided, nothing on the back.
Who is this RAM for? This RAM is mostly for the non enthusiasts/gamers due to the lower base frequency. I would advise against this on AMD platform’s due to the infinity fabric, and Intel platforms with unlocked DRAM multipliers. For a standard PC this RAM is a great fit. Also tried mixing with another brands DRAM and that worked just fine.

Great performing budget 32GB kit.10/9/2022 10:56:16 AM

Pros: + Performs perfectly fine on a Z690 motherboard and i9-12900K
+ Worked perfectly with applications and gaming.

Cons: NONE

Overall Review: Visually, these are very blank and boring black DIMMS, perfect for workstations where you dont need anything flashy.

Installed it just fine on my MSI Z690 CARBON WIFI motherboard paired with an Intel Core i9-12900K. The XMP profile (DDR5 4800MHz 40-39-39-77 1.1V) is set just fine and very easily in bios (version 1.8). During general use and gaming it ran perfectly fine without any hiccups. Tested stability with TM5 anta5 extreme profile and passed. All voltages and temperature readings were normal and safe.

Performance wise it runs just as fast as any other DDR5-4800 CL40 kit on the market for an affordable price when comparing read and write speeds in an AIDA64 Extreme benchmark. Applications ran flawlessly during use and I didn’t find any huge difference between this Crucial DDR5-4800 CL 40 kit and my performance G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5-6000 CL36 when it came to general PC desktop usage and gaming. This DDR5-4800 CL40 kit performed only about 1 to 10 frames per second less than my G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5-6000 CL36 kit in certain games and situations, but then again that doesn’t make much of a difference when you’re pushing OVER 170 frames per second in games at 1440p resolution.

I would highly recommend this Crucial DDR5-4800 CL 40 kit to anyone who just casually uses their computer for everyday use and casual gaming. There is no real difference in gaming on high end machines with this kit compared to a high end kit unless youre looking for the lowest latency possible for competitive shooting games. Compared to previous generations high end DDR4, this Crucial DDR5-4800 CL40 kit performs just as well or better.

Works perfect for stock reference ddr5 4800 builds11/25/2022 3:14:37 PM

Pros: This Crucial DDR5 4800 is basically the reference launch memory for DDR5 and almost every board mfg should be compatible with it. Ive been using this kit at stock 4800 speeds without any issues with XMP 2.0 on my Asus Maximums Hero Z690 board and I will probably move it to my media server and use 64GB of it at all in one rig.

Theres no bells and whistles like RGB and massive heatspreaders but for what it does it just doesnt need to. For those who plan to run with no frills speed and timings this kit is rock solid.

Overall Review: I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this to someone who wants stable and reliable DDR5 and doesnt have a case with a window and doesnt care what their PC looks like.

perfect ram solid name that never disappoints11/16/2022 1:09:57 AM
img

Pros: I appreciate that Crucial manufactured perfect no frills ,run in specs ram. Especially with ddr5 motherboards and Zen 4 AMD just being released. I had ZERO problems with my gigabyte b650 motherboard and 7700x ,the beep happened on 1st try!

Cons: Not a con of this memory but only a con on the platform. If you run to matching sets and fill all 4 slots of memory …64gb.. the speed i got was 4600 instead of 4800 ddr5 when i ran 32gb in 2 slots, gigabyte support told me on AMD platforms this glitch would be fixed shortly by a simple bios upgrade and that the hardware was so new 32gb would be the way to go until they released a bios upgrade.

Overall Review: Love the fact that Crucial knew to keep the memory as a ddr5 4800 standard while AMD works its kinks out. I can play Far Cry 6 and Cyberpunk 2077 on the highest on high settings, and yes at 4k if i choose. I have more use for Video editing, Content Creating using
DaVinci Resolve 18 and Iam very happy with the speed, ease and results.

Plug n Play DDR5, that’s it11/6/2022 4:05:57 PM
img

Pros: – works right out of the box and was detected by my B650 motherboard very quickly (this does not always happen)
– single sided ram without heatsinks makes it very easy to install no matter what CPU cooler or board layout you are working with.
– Price is modest but not bargain for DDR5
– 4800Mhz is OK, OC’ed to 5000Mhz with a bit of fiddling but I don’t think that will result in much performance
– Subtle black DIMMS go well with almost any PC build

Cons: – no RGB, no heatsinks, no excitement what so ever.
– unlocking extra speed took a lot of effort and ultimately did not result in enough stability to make it worth while.
– the DDR5 market right now sucks and that makes this ram “value” oriented at $170 per 2×16 kit.

Overall Review: – You can roll with this ram, it works as expected and does not have any bells and whistles associated with it. There is no EXPO or XMP but the timing values are available and showed up for my B650 build without issue. I see no clear head room for overclocking. This kit is as vanilla as you can get these days. Vanilla is good though.
